Welcome! I'm Jo and I teach Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga, Restorative and Pregnancy Yoga. I am 200+HR RYT and trained under the tutelage of Yogychara Lalit Kumar at the Himalaya Yoga Valley Institute in India. I love introducing yoga to new students and my classes are suitable for all levels; with modifications offered wherever appropriate. I often teach to music and encourage my students to welcome and enjoy both the physical and psychological benefits a regular yoga practise can bring. WHAT IS YOGA?
Yoga is a philosophy. The most widely accepted literal translation of the word yoga is union; union of mind and body, movement and breath, suppleness and strength. Yoga originated in India and is now practised all over the world. There are 8 branches to Yoga; the asana, or physical postures, are just one branch. Yoga is widely practised in the west as a form of exercise and has a huge range of health benefits for the mind and body.
